Medical Assistant Training Program with NIMAA at FHCHC
Train to become a Medical Assistant
Fair Haven Community Health Care (FHCHC) is excited to partner with NIMAA (National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement) to help expand access to healthcare and offer an affordable training program to future leaders in the healthcare community.
FHCHC is proud to offer full scholarships to eligible applicants who are accepted into the NIMAA program and choose FHCHC as their externship organization.
What is the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA)?
NIMAA is a nonprofit school that trains students to become medical assistants by combining online learning with in-person externship experience. Students in the program complete their learning online while also attending externship hours at an Externship Organization near them. NIMAA prepares students to sit for a credentialing exam upon completion of the program so students can become certified Medical Assistants (MAs).
How long is the program?
NIMAA is 29 weeks of learning, roughly 8 months long. Students complete their learning online while also attending clinical hours at their Externship Organization to get hands-on training throughout the whole program. NIMAA has two cohorts each year that start in the fall (late August/early September) and spring (late February/early March).
What is the cost for the program?
NIMAA’s tuition and fees are half the cost of most traditional for-profit MA programs. NIMAA also participates in the Federal Student Aid program, and eligible students can receive grants and/or subsidized loans. Some students may be eligible for scholarships or tuition assistance at the healthcare organization in which they are placed.
Note from FHCHC: Fair Haven Community Health Care is committed to offering full scholarships to eligible applicants who are accepted into the NIMAA program and choose FHCHC as their Externship Organization.
What are the requirements to enroll in the program?
NIMAA is designed as an entry level program, so no prior healthcare experience is required. Students in the program must be 18 years or older by the completion of the program, must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, reside in a state where NIMAA is approved to operate, and be proficient in the English language both in written and verbal form. Additional tasks that must be complete in order to enroll include completion of all required enrollment forms and clearance of a background check.
**FHCHC requires externs to be 18 years or older by the start of the program.
